50 Dignity Kits Delivered to Women and Girls in Nuwakot, Nepal
Standing Together for Nepal — An Update from the Ground
When we first reached out to our community about the devastating floods in Nepal, we knew that immediate relief would be needed. What we have learned since then is that recovery will take much longer—and that small acts of support can make a very real difference in the lives of those who have been displaced.
We are grateful to share that 50 dignity kits have now been distributed to women and girls at the United Holding Centre in Bidur Municipality, Nuwakot.
These kits provide essential personal and hygiene items to women and adolescent girls who are living in temporary holding centers after losing access to their homes and many of the basic necessities of daily life.
Providing Dignity Kits in Nepal is a Small Contribution with Meaningful Impact
In Nuwakot district alone, more than 1,774 people are currently living in holding centers, including 913 women and girls.
For those who have been displaced by disaster, dignity can be found in the simplest things: having personal necessities, receiving care, and knowing that someone beyond the immediate crisis sees and remembers them.
We were especially touched by the response of many of the women who received the kits. They wanted to share their gratitude with us and, with their permission, photographs were shared in appreciation for the support.
For us, these moments bring the work close to home. Although we may be separated by oceans, languages, and thousands of miles, compassion has no borders.
There Is Still So Much More to Do
While these 50 kits are an important beginning, the need remains significant.
Across the affected areas, 3,685 people are still living in holding centers, and more than 5,000 people remain out of contact or are still missing following the floods.
Behind every number is a person, a family, and a life that has been disrupted.
This is why we are committed to continuing our support through Bagmati Welfare Society Nepal (BWSN), our local partner working directly with communities affected by the flooding.
BWSN has been helping coordinate relief on the ground, including dignity kits, food, shelter, water and sanitation support, and other essential assistance. Their ongoing updates and documentation help us understand where the greatest needs remain and where our community's support can be most useful.
We Want to Keep Going
We are deeply grateful to everyone who has donated, shared our appeal, or helped bring awareness to what is happening in Nepal.
Our goal is not simply to respond once and move on. We would like to continue supporting this program in the weeks ahead, as families remain displaced and communities work toward recovery.
