Nepal Flood Relief: The Work Continues...
We are grateful to share another update from our Nepal Flood Relief effort. This week, the Global Awareness Charitable Trust sent an additional $1,000 to Bagmati Welfare Society Nepal (BWSN) to continue supporting women, girls, and families affected by the devastating Bhote Koshi floods.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who has donated, shared our posts, and helped bring awareness to what is happening in Nepal. Your support is making a tangible difference.
Nepal Flood Relief: The Need Remains
While the immediate emergency has passed for some, the situation remains very serious. According to BWSN’s latest report, 1,451 people have died, and 5,745 remain on the missing list. The number of people living in holding centers has decreased, but many families have simply moved into temporary housing or rented rooms, where they continue to face shortages of basic necessities.
The impact on children is especially difficult to comprehend. 102 children have lost both parents, while 439 children remain separated from their parents. In many cases, deaths remain unconfirmed, or remains have not yet been found, leaving families and children living with tremendous uncertainty.
The physical destruction has also been immense. Across the assessed flood corridor, 51.6% of buildings were impacted, with some communities experiencing destruction or damage to more than 90% of their buildings.
Restoring Dignity, One Kit at a Time
This is why we feel the dignity-kit program is so important. Basic hygiene and personal-care items are things many of us can easily take for granted—until they are suddenly unavailable. For women and girls living through displacement and loss, receiving these necessities provides practical assistance while also restoring a measure of dignity and care during an extraordinarily difficult time.
Through our partnership with Bagmati Welfare Society Nepal (BWSN), we are grateful to be able to continue directing support to communities where it is needed.
