About the Event
The objective of this project is to provide aid so that children and young people from the Tezhuna communities the ability to investigate their Ancestral and Western Culture at the same time with the Elders in all its aspects (Music, Song, Weaving, and Storytelling). These traditional customs are handed down for generations through their ancestors.
The project will help educate the Tezhuna Boys and Girls and Young People Regarding Intercultural Music and its significance. They will learn various traditional instruments such as the flute and drums. The Tezhuna instruments include the; TAGɄ (THE BOX), WATHKU ANZHABU (FEMALE REED), WATHKU ANZHADE (MALE REED), AGɄNA (THE MARACA), TANTA, SHINDALI.
These instruments are played at key events including marriage, receipt of poporo (puberty), receipt of usu (mensuration) in women, baptism, death, initiating sacred temples, construction of temples, and spiritual payments to nature.
